About Us

Vickers Barrow Motor Club was formed in 1959 by a group of car enthusiasts working at Vickers Armstrong Shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness.
Over the years the Club developed from doing simple social runs and outings, to what are our mainstay events these days: 12-Car Navigation Events, Touring Assemblies, Gymkhanas, Autotests and PCT’s.
Marshalling is another strong activity that the Club is involved in. We have been given many awards and praise over the years for our efforts and efficiency, particularly for the stages we ran in Grizedale on the RAC Rallies of the 70’s and 80’s.
The area we use for our events is predominately map 96 which includes many classic Lakeland roads.
We meet socially on the second Monday in every month at the Farmers Arms in Newton-in-Furness.
We also offer members discounts from local traders and run spectator trips to bigger events.
The Club is affiliated to Cumbria Motor Sport Group and ANECCC.

Calendar Competition

Something was brought to my attention that the club could maybe have a calendar. If anyone from the club has any pictures of any kind that they think will be in with a chance then send them to the Club's webmaster, Chris Williams at webmaster@vbmc.co.uk

Details have now moved on a little further that originally suggested as Dave Winder has shown us a sample of what the calendar should look like. It should be available for 2009 which is the Club's 50th anniversary. No entries have been received as yet!
